Caravaning has become immensely trendy over the past few years, with more and more Aussies buying caravans and campervans every day! It’s fantastic that we are hitting the great Aussie outdoors a lot more often, but one of the downsides has been the increase in thefts as well.
According to RACV and Victoria’s Neighbourhood Watch, thefts and attempted thefts of caravans in Victoria have reached their highest recorded level in 10 years! The Australian Bureau of Statistics has recorded an increase in all states, with one story from Queensland where the family was still inside the caravan!
Our West Coast Trailer Parts team have come up with a couple of tips to help you keep your investment secure:
- Insure your caravan.
- Park it ‘awkwardly’ to deter or slow down would be thieves.
- Lock the doors and windows when not in use.
- Use some sort of security device, such as these ones from our online shop, to reduce the opportunity for budding thieves.
